Antelope Canyon Fun Fact: The Antelope Canyon was formed by flash flooding over thousands of years! The narrow, winding corridors and flowing shapes in the rock were carved by rushing water eroding the sandstone. Even today, occasional flash floods continue to shape the canyon, giving it its iconic, surreal curves and patterns. This stunning spot, located on Navajo land in Arizona, is often called a “slot canyon” because of its narrow, slot-like passageways.
